Mr Oliver Kipkogei is a Climate Scientist at the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in Nairobi, Kenya. Mr Kipkogei is tasked with regional climate forecast downscaling dissemination and interpretation of agrometeorological information in the food and agriculture security sector. His following roles include:
- Provide regional suites of climate information tailored to agricultural and food security decision-makers. Mr Kipkogei leads the downscaling, packaging and dissemination of ICPAC's climate forecasts and derived agro-meteorological products into relevant, comprehensible climate information tailored to the needs of food and agriculture security users’ needs
- Lead contributor (author) of the Agriculture and Food Security (AFS) section of GHACOF Bulletins. The AFS section spans interpretations, scenarios and implications (including suitability analysis) of GHACOF’s consensus seasonal climate forecasts and related products from ICPAC for agriculture and food security, and proposed strategies for mitigating anticipated negative impacts, and maximizing positive implications of the forecasted seasonal variables.
