Dr. Hatem Cheikh M’hamed

Dr. Hatem CHEIKH M’HAMED (40 years old), assistant professor in agronomy (crop production) at National Institute of Agricultural Research of Tunisia (INRAT), since 2007.  He holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy-Crop production from the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunis (INAT).  He has coordinated and participated in several national and international Research and Research-Development Projects. Dr. Cheikh M’hamed was the national coordinator of CANA project (2012-2015) “Adapting Conservation Agriculture for Rapid Adoption by Smallholder Farmers in North Africa”, funded by ACIAR-Australia and managed by ICARDA. Currently he is the national coordinator of CLCA project (2018-2022) “Use of conservation agriculture in crop-livestock systems (CLCA) in the drylands for enhanced water use efficiency, soil fertility and productivity in NEN and LAC countries » funded by IFAD and managed by ICARDA. His research activities focus on innovative agricultural practices under conservation agriculture in semi-arid regions and allelopathic/phyto-toxic effect of some species on weeds control. He is also conducting a research program on the effect of Nitrogen/Water interaction on water use efficiency, nitrogen use efficiency, and radiation use efficiency of cereals. About thirty (30) papers have been published by Dr Cheikh M’hamed, mainly in international peer-reviewed journals and have presented more than thirty (35) papers in national and international conferences.
