
Dr. Alfred Micheni
Dr.
Alfred Micheni holds a PhD in Land Resource Management. He is currently
serving as Senior Research Officers and also the Deputy Centre Director at
the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO-Embu). He
is in charge of the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Department at the Food
Crops Research Institute, Embu station, which is mandated to develop and
facilitate adoption of research innovations by smallholder farmers and
partners in the Central highlands of Kenya.
His
day-to-day duties include preparing project proposals, implementation of NRM
based projects and scaling of proved agricultural technologies to partners. His
recent duties focus more on Conservation Agriculture (CA) and Climate Smart
Agriculture (CSA) systems toward improving soil fertility (chemical, physical
and biological parameters) and crop productivity within and beyond the
Central Kenyan highlands. In addition, Dr. Micheni coordinates soil fertility
management related research projects/programmes whose successes are based on collaboration
and integration of ideas from different stakeholders. Alfred has participated
in several local and international meetings related to agricultural problem identification/solving
and dissemination of research findings. Dr. Micheni has authored and/or
co-authored over 40 scientific papers for conferences and peer reviewed
journals.
