Carl T. Wahl

Mr. Wahl started working in smallholder agriculture in Northwestern Zambia in 2004 as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer training farmers in Conservation Agriculture and legume diversification for nutrition. After gaining his M.S. in Agroecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mr. Wahl joined Concern Worldwide in 2010, and managed the overall agriculture approaches in Central and Western Provinces of Zambia, whilst jointly working with sister projects in Malawi. From 2016 to 2017, Mr. Wahl managed a REDD+ project for Fauna & Flora International (UK) in in Liberia, developing Farmer Field School models for large-scale upland vegetable production in Lofa. In 2017, Mr. Wahl rejoined Concern Worldwide as the overall Agriculture Adviser for all agriculture-based livelihoods programming in Concern’s 22 countries. His recent visits include Malawi, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Kenya. Mr. Wahl’s areas of interest include adaptive assisted-managed agroforestry systems, Faidherbia albida, bio-char, and value-addition of fruits and grains through distillation.
